3616 Crescent Avenue is a spectacular manse that was artfully designed and custom built over a five-year period, with completion in 2022. The architecture is classical in style, with modern detailing, and chic interiors. The exterior of the home is constructed of moleanos limestone and stucco, with slate and lead-coated copper roofs, steel doors, and steel and wood windows throughout.

The floor plan is very functional for daily living, but also designed for entertaining on a grand scale. The entry hall of the home is a jewel box, boasting bardiglio marble floors, rusticated plaster walls, an iron stair rail designed by Rose Uniacke, and hand-painted wallpaper. The entry opens to an enormous great room that is the heart of the home and connects the public rooms with the primary wing.

The Great Room

The great room is filled with light, with beautiful MHB steel French doors that open to both the front and back terraces. The walls were hand-painted by a New York artist, with plaster crown moulding, quarter-sawn white oak floors, and a fireplace with a mantle designed by Tom Scheerer. A large painting on the east wall retracts to expose a large TV for more casual entertaining. The formal dining room is located off of the great room and is a beautiful aubergine color, with triple-hung LePage Millwork windows, floor lighting, and a Rose Uniacke light fixture. Connecting the formal dining room to the kitchen is an exquisite butler’s pantry, with Bendheim glass shelves, rift-sawn white oak cabinetry, ice maker, beverage drawers, and a custom 100+ bottle wine cellar.

The Kitchen

The kitchen is warm and inviting, with rift-sawn white oak cabinetry, petit granite honed-limestone counters, a Lacanche range with a vent hood custom-designed by Tom Scheerer, and gourmet appliances. The kitchen backsplash and the island counter are slab neolith porcelain, and the island is illuminated by a sculptural brass pendant light. Stepping down from the kitchen, one enters the inviting sunroom, which includes a white oak vaulted ceiling, Venetian plaster walls, a custom-designed fireplace, moleanos limestone floors that are the same stone used on the exterior, and steel French doors and windows that open to the back yard.

The Library

On the opposite end of the great room, there is an intimate sitting room/library that has been lacquered in ochre, with a custom marble mantle, built-ins with leather-wrapped shelves, comfortable banquettes, and a wet bar with brass tile walls. The morning hall leads from the sitting room to the primary suite and has steel floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the back terrace.

The Primary Suite

The primary suite has views of the center lawn but is very private from the rest of the house. The bedroom walls cove into the ceiling and are covered in wallpaper custom designed by Tom Scheerer. His bathroom is clad in grigio carnico marble with a barrel-vaulted ceiling, and a closet with beautiful leather-paneled millwork. Her bathroom includes a gorgeous tub, shower with custom steel doors, and marble floors. Her closet is completely customized with a fabulous separate purse/shoe closet and vanity.

Secondary Bedrooms

The second-floor landing leads to a comfortable sitting room with windows overlooking the front and back yards, flanked by two spacious en-suite bedrooms. Both bedrooms feature large walk-in closets and well-appointed marble bathrooms. A light-filled galley spans the front of the house to the fourth bedroom, currently being used as an office, which boasts the best views of the second floor, a walk-in closet, and en-suite marble bath. A back hallway leads to the fifth en-suite bedroom and the utility room, with a second staircase down to the kitchen.

The Cabana

The downstairs opens to a wide terrace that overlooks the lawn leading to the cabana. The cabana mirrors the sunroom, with limestone floors, a white-oak vaulted ceiling, steel French doors with retractable screens, and a fabulous wet bar that sets the mood for casual entertaining. The bar ceiling is vaulted with hand-painted wallpaper, a bamboo bar, beverage drawers, ice maker and dishwasher. Set privately off the bar is a large gym or guest bedroom with a luxurious bathroom with steam shower, opening to a cold plunge pool. French doors lead from the gym/bedroom to a sunken outdoor living area with fireplace, flanked by an infinity pool and a spa.
